Atletico Madrid take on their spunky rivals later tonight in Jeddah Saudi Arabia in the final of the Spanish Super Cup.
The Rojiblancos came through to the final after making a dramatic comeback against Barcelona to set up a date with their arch rivals in the finals.
The game albeit was trailed by many controversies after two Barcelona goals were denied in the game; and Atletico scoring two late goals to shatter the hopes of the Catalans staging an El-Clasico final.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid knocked out Valencia in their own semi final match. Thanks to a brilliant goal by Toni Kroos which was scored directly from a corner.
The final however is expected to be a cracker if what happened in the semi-final is anything to go by. The last time the two rivals met was in September in the Spanish Laliga and the game produced a barren draw.
Coming into this game, Atletico stand a higher chance of winning due to the fact that they have the ability to cause massive trouble for Real and the crazy form they’re bringing into the game after their massive effort to stage a comeback against Barca is one thing to take to cognisance.
Moreso, the Rojiblancos are unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions and will be looking to get one over their neighbours later tonight. Real on the other hand, have enjoyed a mini-revival which may come to an end tonight if Zidane doesn’t up the ante.
Another factor to consider is the match venue, the same stadium thay hosted the semi finals will be used again tonight, hence, the winner will be the team that wants it most.
By and large, with every indication and going by the form of the two giants, Diego Simeone’s side might just return to Madrid with the trophy
