What a game week that was! After GW6, we are sure you must be considering using your wildcard. Or you were on the lucky side last week? Ahead of Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 7 deadline on 18:30 GMT on Friday 30 October, we bring some insights ahead of another exciting weekend of pulsating Premier League football.
Goalkeepers
Edouard Mendy (£5.0m) vs Burnley (A)
The new Chelsea goalkeeper has kept a clean sheet in three consecutive Premier League and UCL games so far in a much-improved Blues defence which he has filled with confidence. Mendy is adept at coming off his line to claim crosses which would greatly help against Burnley who love to cross into the box and shoot from distance.
Ederson (£6.0m) vs Sheffield (H)
The Brazilian comes up against Sheffield United who are joint-lowest scorers with three goals all season. City have been inconsistent so far in 2020/21 but have got a balance in defence recently. Coming off a confidence-boosting clean sheet against Marseille in midweek, the Cityzens are expected to shut out The Blades.
Defenders
Ben Chilwell (£5.8m) vs Burnley (A)
The England International has got his Chelsea career off to a flying start as he already has a goal and two assists this season despite featuring in three games. The left-back is good value at 27 Fantasy points already and would be important for Chelsea in attack and defense.
Kurt Zouma (£5.1m) vs Burnley (A)
The French centre-back has become a surprise FPL asset in 2020/21 with two goals from corners and 32 points. His increased threat at set-pieces is due to Chelsea’s new technically-gifted dead-ball specialists, as Hakim Ziyech’s improved fitness will certainly boost that. Zouma is also a key part of an improving defensive unit who will be looking to stop Burnley who have only scored three goals and none at Turf Moor.
Timothy Castagne (£5.7m) vs Leeds (A)
Castagne is already a popular pick with 21.4% ownership among FPL managers. The fullback is a key attacking outlet in an open game in prospect against Leeds. With Jamie Vardy (£10.0m) also fit to start, Castagne is set to find space to create assists.
Midfielders
Mohamed Salah (£12.4m) vs West Ham (H)
The most expensive player this season has been sharp and already boasts six goals and one assist. Salah has a decent scoring record against West Ham and remains likely to score being Liverpool’s penalty taker.
Anfield teammate, Sadio Mane (£12.0m), is a reliable alternative to Salah if you already have him in your team and both are captain picks
Heung-min Son (£9.5m) vs Brighton (H)
Son is the Premier League’s top scorer and perhaps most in-form player at the moment. His 69 points are an FPL delight as he is currently owned by over 50% managers, for whom he also delivers points for assists and clean sheets.
Don’t have Son in your team? He should be your captain, too.
Jack Grealish (£7.3m) v Southampton (H)
Grealish is Aston Villa’s main attacking outlet but his threat has been shared by new signings Ollie Watkins (£6.0m) and Ross Barkley (£5.9m). This invariably triples the possibility of points from the Villa captain who can score and assist while a solid defence ensures clean sheets. Having lost their 100% record last weekend, Villa would be backing their home form to see some goals against the Saints.
Kevin de Bruyne (£11.5m) vs Sheffield (A)
The Premier League Player of The Year returned from injury off the bench against West Ham in a timely boost for Man City. A start that produced two UCL assists in midweek is the perfect preparation for the weekend against struggling Sheffield. De Bruyne will take on even greater importance due to injuries to their strikers and can thrive on the responsibility.
Allan Saint-Maximin (£5.3m) vs Everton (H)
The Frenchman is Newcastle’s livewire attacker who gets them on the front foot with his pace and trickery. Saint-Maximin represents a bargain value and will be vital against Everton who are without both fullbacks to injury and suspension.
Forwards
Kane (£10.9m) vs Brighton (H)
Harry Kane has developed into a key role for Tottenham as his eight assists (seven for Son) has created the deadliest attacking combination this season. His five goals alongside the top scorer makes Tottenham this season’s highest scorers as the striker has netted nine bonus points.
Opponents Brighton have the joint-second worst defence this season and it promises a fruitful outing for the hottest captain picks.
Patrick Bamford (£5.9m) vs Leicester (H)
Bamford’s hattrick at Aston Villa last week took him to six goals and two assists this season. The 27-year-old is the focal point to Leeds’ attacking play and thus, points will flow in an exciting game against The Foxes.
Michail Antonio (£6.3m) vs Liverpool (A)
Michail Antonio remains fundamental to West Ham’s hopes after a sizzling bicycle kick last time out against Man City. With West Ham’s form and confidence this season they will look to score some goals of which Antonio is a huge influence. Indeed, Antonio must not be overlooked against a Liverpool rearguard depleted by injuries.
