There is a mini double game week in successive weeks with Man City, Burnley, Everton, and Fulham all playing twice then Leeds and Southampton in game week 25. The up-and-down nature of the FPL season so far means there are several injury absences to navigate as well as injury returns to reintegrate into your squad
Jamie Vardy makes a timely return from Hernia surgery, playing an hour in the FA Cup ahead of a crunch game with Liverpool. Just as Callum Wilson and Dominic Calvert-Lewin were struck by injury ahead of DGW 24.
Ahead of the Deadline at 11:00 GMT on Saturday 13 February. Football Castle brings the best differentials and picks for Game week 24.
Goalkeepers
Ederson(£6.1m) Has conceded only once in the last seven games and has the most clean sheets this season (13). I tipped the Brazilian shot-stopper for Penalties since GW 11 and that seems set to happen with Pep Guardiola having admitted the club’s best penalty taker might soon be promoted to spot-kick duties.
Nick Pope(£5.5m) is a prime differential with his DGW fixtures against goal-shy Crystal Palace and Fulham. The Burnley goalkeeper’s FPL haul (102 points) is behind only Emi Martínez(£5.5m) who faces Brighton on GW24.
The Seagulls have enjoyed increased form in recent weeks but are very timid goalscorers, providing the Argentine a potential big haul.
Defenders
Luke Shaw(£4.9m) has three assists in his last two games and his creativity would be vital away at West Brom. Shaw has the most key passes of United’s defenders (seven) and is on a run of returns in three successive GWs.
Ben Mee(£5.0m) is Burnley’s top-scoring defender and a go-to choice for any attacking returns from defence against Crystal Palace and Fulham. He also has high clean sheets potential in either or both games.
Midfielders
Bruno Fernandes(£11.5m) is a differential captain choice despite his single fixture due to the mere fact he faces the league’s worst team in West Brom. This season’s best FPL player (169 points) leads the Premier League for shots (78) and big chances created (16).
Fernandes is facing a Baggies side who have already conceded 54 times this season, and the Portuguese is tipped to score first at odds of 4.71.
Tomáš Souček(£5.4m) had his unfortunate red card against Fulham rescinded on appeal and would be back against Sheffield having played every minute this season. Sixth-placed West Ham should have too much for Sheffield despite recent improvement and Soucek is on a goal every 2.9 games.
The Czech is a serious threat in the box and at set pieces and could add to the 106 points for his loyal FPL managers.
İlkay Gündoğan(£6.0m) is the most in-form player in the most in-form team in the Premier League. There is little doubt about his massive FPL pull at the moment especially after a missed penalty preceded a brace against Liverpool.
The threat of Pep Guardiola’s rotation for the DGW against difficult opponents in Tottenham and Everton is a warning to over-enthusiastic managers but Gündoğan has started the last 11 fixtures and registered the most goals (nine), points (92), and big chances (10) since then.
James Rodríguez(£7.7m) has delivered two goals in his last four starts and Everton have been involved in high-scoring encounters against Man United then Tottenham in the FA Cup.
Rodríguez is set to perform in the absence of Calvert-Lewin against lowly Fulham and Man City in DGW 24. Ancelotti’s tactical setup offers freedom and flexibility for the Colombian maestro who is tipped to score first against Fulham at 7.00
Strikers
Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s(£7.7m) hamstring injury throws DGW 24 plans into a bit of turmoil for those who were set to captain the in-form Everton man. Jamie Vardy(£10.0m) returns, however, to ease the confusion and is ready for a start against Liverpool whom he has a brilliant goalscoring record.
With Callum Wilson(£6.7m) also injured, Michail Antonio(£6.7m) should return against Sheffield having been rested in the FA Cup tie at Man United. He has two goals and three assists in six starts since returning from injury and should deliver against bottom side Sheffield.
Danny Ings(£8.4m) scored against Wolves in the FA Cup after a five-game goal drought. He faces Wolves again in GW 24 before two decent fixtures in DGW 25 and is a prime replacement for the injured strikers
