It is still early days but The Premier League presents a top-of-the-table clash at Anfield.
It’s a Monday night special as Arsenal visit Champions Liverpool with both teams’ 100% start to the league season on the line. Under the lights at Anfield will undoubtedly bring back memories of Andrey Arshavin’s four-goal haul in that sensational 4-4 draw in April 2009.
Although they haven’t avoided defeat at Anfield since 2017, Arsenal beat the Merseysiders twice within six weeks since they won the Premier League and would be confident of another huge scalp.
Organized and Gutsy Gunners
Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal have a structure and are organized with an obvious game plan every time they step out, whilst losing none of the freedom of a typical Arsenal side.
Arteta has the team figured out but they desperately need a creative outlet from midfield. The Gunners failed to control the middle of the park at home against West Ham and need a dramatic injection of quality to be taken seriously. An agreement, however, has been reportedly reached for the signing of Lyon Midfielder Houssem Aouar.
Owing much to the sharpness of young star, Bukayo Saka, in the final third. Arsenal secured a hard-fought three points sealed by a late, well-worked goal to make it six points from six available this season.
Digging in to seal a win via their substitutes set the perfect tone for the storm to come at Anfield and a timely reminder of their improvement from recent years. Indeed, this was a game Arsenal would have lost only 10 months ago.
Liverpool inspired
Hosts Liverpool are well-rested and blistering with confidence. With New Signing Thiago Alcântara now injured alongside captain Henderson and Alisson, Diogo Jota is looking forward to his league bow for the Reds.
The loss of Thiago would have scourged Klopp’s plans due to his creativity which Arsenal would certainly be lacking. As Arsenal’s wingbacks enjoyed success in both most-recent encounters against Liverpool’s inside-forwards; the Role of the Spain International is tailor-made for the needed inspiration through the centre.
Thiago completed 75 passes after coming on at half-time, at least 17 more than any Chelsea player managed in the entire 90 minutes.

Jürgen Klopp’s side will point to uncharacteristic errors then a penalty shootout in the Community Shield proving key in their recent outings against their resolute opponents. They won’t be lacking motivation on Monday night with their new signings improving the squad and fringe players, Curtis Jones and Takumi Minamino scoring a brace each in the cup midweek.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal find themselves at a crossroads on matchday three, looking to prove a point for the season ahead.
Interestingly, they meet again three days later in the Carabao Cup.
