Organizers of the Egba Youth Football Championship (EYFC), an annual Football Cup Competition in Abeokuta, Ogun State, have announced that former Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, The CEO of Nilayo Sports Management Limited and erstwhile Commissioner for Youths and Sports in Ogun State, Bukola Olopade and other prominent individuals and organizations will be awarded at the draws of the third edition of the competition.
EYFC is a grassroots football competition aimed at bringing an end to thuggery not only in Abeokuta but in Ogun State at large. After the maiden edition of the competition in 2019, it has become popular as a higher number of participants have been recorded since the first edition.
As the third edition of the competition itches closer, the organizers have taken some steps further to glamorize the football competition in another commendable style.
One of those is by appreciating the individuals and organizations that have contributed immensely to the development of Sports in Abeokuta and Ogun State in general at the draws of the 2021 edition.
According to the organizers of the competition, Former Governor of the State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel will receive the EYFC Pillar of Sports Award, Engr Olarewaju Edun who currently represents Abeokuta South Federal Constituency at the National Assembly would be honored with the 2020 EYFC Distinguished Leadership Award.
Honourable Bukola Olopade will bag 2020 EYFC Man of the Year award, Lafarge Africa, manufacturers of Lafarge Cement will be honoured with the 2020 EYFC Award of Excellence on Sports Promotion in the Large-Profit Business category.
Other awardees include Comrade Desmond Nwachukwu, National President of the Freelance And Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeria (FIBAN), Alhaji Kehinde Monsuru, Dr. Kehinde Ololade, Professor Adewale Musa Olomu, CMD Federal Medical Center, Abeokuta, Chief Toyin Amusu, and Dr. Dimeji Oganla.
The official draw ceremony and award night is billed to hold at Crown Royal Hotel, Abiola-Way, Abeokuta on February 11th, 2021 with total adherence to Covid-19 protocols in order to stop the spread of the contagion in the country.
