Marcus Rashford has not played a game completely pain-free in two years, according to ESPN

The Manchester United forward is nursing shoulder and foot issues but will make himself available for England at the postponed 2020 European Championships in the summer.

The 23-year-old has been playing through the pain barrier since 2019 and only had one extended period unavailable when he missed 14 games with a stress fracture in his back last season.

ESPN reports he could choose to undergo shoulder surgery after featuring at the Euros but has told England manager Gareth Southgate he will be available when the tournament kicks off in June.

The foot injury that saw him sit out the 3-1 FA Cup defeat to Leicester before the international break and forced him to pull out of England’s World Cup qualifiers against San Marino, Albania, and Poland in March will have to be carefully managed till the end of the season.

Rashford has started seven of United’s last nine games but has not completed 90 minutes since the 1-0 win over West Ham on March 14.

“Marcus, yeah, we’ve managed him and we’ve had to manage him for quite a while actually,” Man Utd boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said.

“Of course last year with his back, then he had his shoulders, which he’s recovered really well from, and I feel he’s gone through the worst of this foot as well and he almost played a full game against Leeds.”

Despite playing through the pain for a long time, Rashford has made 95 appearances since the start of the 2019/20 season and scored 42 goals. He passed a career-first 20 goals in all competitions last season, with 22 and 12 assists in 44 games; and has featured in 51 matches so far this season, scoring 20 goals and 13 assists.
