The domestic season is entering its decisive stages and same is true of Fantasy Premier League managers who are looking to claw their way up the mini-leagues or create some distance from the chasing pack.
The many postponements due to weather and Covid earlier in the season means there is another double game week, and after one of the most disappointing Double Gameweeks in recent memory last time out, DGW28 sees six Premier League teams featuring twice.
As always, the FootballCastle will provide some of the best tips to navigate this game week and beyond, ranging from differential picks to wildcard and captaincy options.
Indeed, all changes must be effected before the double game week 28 deadline at 11:00 GMT on Saturday 5 March.
Goalkeepers
Jose Sa (£5.3m)
The Wolves man has emerged as one of the best goalkeepers in the league this season and is joint-top scoring goalkeeper in FPL. Only Man City, Chelsea and Liverpool have conceded fewer goals than Wolves this season and they are the only side to play at home twice in Gameweek 28.
Edouard Mendy(£6.1m)
The Chelsea shot-stopper returned from AFCON duty with a clean sheet against Crystal Palace and looks in strong form after also shutting out Lille and Liverpool in cup competitions. A glance at the fixture list suggests Mendy can keep up his good run as he faces a DGW against the division’s two lowest scorers and subsequent good fixtures up until GW37 against Manchester United.
Defenders
Conor Coady (£4.8M)
Wolves are certainly one of the most appealing sides with a double game week and their defensive record is a good bet against weaker opposition in Crystal Palace and Watford. Coady has been a rock at the back and is a DGW frontrunner for the home games.
Matty Cash (£5.1m)
The right-back has blanked just once in his last five appearances when he registered a goal, an assist and three clean sheets to total 29 points. Cash faces Southampton and Leeds as Aston Villa’s top-scoring player in Fantasy with 88 points, having hit a season-high haul of 14 points against Brighton last weekend, his 5.1% ownership on FPL is a sensational bargain.
Trent Alexander-Arnold (£8.5M)
The highest-scoring defender in FPL this season continues to boast his great attacking potential coupled with Liverpool’s impressive defensive record. The full-back has 13 clean sheets, two goals and 10 assists under his belt and is a must-have for your squad.
Antonio Rudiger(£6.1m)
The German is Chelsea’s top-scoring player in Fantasy with 108 points after combining two goals and three assists with 10 clean sheets.
Rudiger bears even more importance in DGW 28 against Burnley and Norwich as Chelsea play the two worst attacks in the league for non-penalty expected goal involvement (xGI) over the last six matches. The Blues have conceded the least away goals this season and their no-nonsense defender could even pop up with a goal involvement or two.
Midfielders
Son Heung-min (£10.8m)
After hitting at least 20 attacking returns in each of the last five seasons, Son is well on course to repeat that feat and has 11 attacking returns in as many matches since GW 14. The South Korean is averaging 7.1 points per match and managers must make use of his brilliant form in the latter part of the season.
Joe Willock (£5.7m)
The midfielder has amassed 24 points with two goals and one assist in the last three matches and his 13 shots and eight in the box during that spell are top-ranked in the Newcastle team. The Magpies are the only side scheduled to play four matches in the next two Gameweeks and Willock’s timely return to form bodes well for managers.
Philippe Coutinho (£7.4m)
The magician has two goals, two assists and 24 points across his three home outings for Aston Villa and next takes aim at Southampton who have conceded at least twice in 10 of their 13 away matches this season.
Leeds represent the other DGW28 opponents and Coutinho will look forward to a good game week having registered a goal and two assists against them last month.
Mohamed Salah (£13.2m)
Although West Ham represent his sole GW28 opponents, Salah is more than capable of outscoring everyone else having delivered a record haul as captain in DGW26. Salah has 28 points in his last two home matches and is on course to break the all-time FPL points record for a single season.
A sure-fire captaincy pick.
Forwards
Harry Kane (£12.3m)
The Tottenham marksman is entering a good patch of form having produced two double-figure hauls in recent big returns against Manchester City and Leeds. Kane has returned at least 10 FPL points in five of his last eight meetings against Everton who have conceded more than once in each of their last four away matches in all competitions.
Che Adams (£6.9m)
The forward faces Aston Villa and Newcastle in his most prolific form of the season having produced three goals and an assist in his last four matches, totalling 27 points. Failure to have Adams in DGW28 will be missing out on a bargain differential.
Raúl Jiménez (£7.5M)
Facing a double Gameweek at home, the Mexican offers huge value as the 12th highest scoring forward in FPL this season. Jiménez should start both games against Crystal Palace and Watford and can be trusted to deliver a healthy points return.
