As the season continues to coast home in different leagues across Europe, Nigerian players continued to impress for their respective club sides.

Gernot Rohr will be more than happy at the moment because his regular attackers in the team have all been tremendous for their employers in Europe.

And yet again last weekend, Kelechi Iheanacho, Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen continued in their rich vein of form.

Albeit, some of their teams were on the losing side but a couple of Eagles’ stars held their head high by making a mark for their teams.

Last weekend was quite disastrous for Leicester City when they faced relegation battlers Newcastle at the King Power Stadium.

Super Eagles duo of Kelechi Iheanacho and Wilfred Ndidi were in action for the team but only ‘Senior Man Kelz’ could play for a longer period in the match as Ndidi only played for 63 minutes.

Iheanacho netted his 11th of the season in the League for the Foxes in the penultimate home game for Brendan Rodgers’ men in the 87th minute as Leicester lost 4-2 to Newcastle at the King Power Stadium.

Having been involved in Marc Albrighton’s goal earlier and scoring Leicester’s second in the game, Kelechi Iheanacho won the man of the match award.

Also, the goal makes Iheanacho the Premier League player with most goals since the beginning of 2021.

Elsewhere, it was Isaac Success’s first start of the season for the Premier League-bound Watford side last weekend against Swansea.

The 25-year-old added to the tally for The Hornets following Andre Gray’s opener earlier in the second half. The game ended in a comfortable 2-0 win for Watford. Meanwhile, William Troost-Ekong was an unused substitute.

Semi Ajayi’s impact was not enough to muster a point for already relegated West Bromwich Albion as they lost 3-1 to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

In Belgium, Nigeria’s hottest striker this season, Paul Onuachu, took his tally to 29 in the scorers’ chart of the Belgian Jupiler League after he opened the scoring for his Genk side in the 57th minute against Club Brugge.

Paul Onuachu

Genk emerged winners, winning by 3-0 but Paul was replaced with another Nigerian, Cyril Dessers shortly before the final whistle.

Osimhen and Simy the lighting up Serie A

Napoli’s Victor Osimhen was impactful in three of the four goals scored by Genaro Gattuso’s men as they went on a rampage against Spezia away from home to return to winning ways.

Osimhen scored a brace in the first half, and also set up Hirving Lozano for Napoli’s fourth in the 79th minute. He came off for Andrea Petagna in the 83rd minute as the match ended 4-1 in favour of Napoli.

Meanwhile, The former Wolfsburg, Charleroi, and Lille striker has now registered 10 goals so far in Serie A this season.

For Crotone and Simy Nwankwo, It was a match to be forgotten quickly as they were mauled 5-0 by AS Roma.

Moses Simon was instrumental for French side Nantes as they dispatched Bordeaux 3-0 at home. Simon, 25, set up Randal Kolo Miami to score Nantes’ third goal in the 70th minute and was later substituted for Marcus Regis Coco nine minutes from time.

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was in the sticks for Sparta Rotterdam and kept another clean sheet, his 10th for Sparta in the ongoing Dutch Eredivisie season as they put three unreplied goals past Vitesse at home.

Also in the Eredivisie, Tyronne Ebuehi played the entirety of FC Twente’s match against Heracles. Ebuehi’s defensive input coupled with his contribution going forward earned his side a point as the game ended one all.

In the Portuguese Primeira Liga, Chidozie Awaziem was reliable for the Jesualdo Ferreira-led Boavista side in their home game against Tondela.

Awaziem held his own all through the encounter, though his team conceded a goal as the tie ended 1-1.

Lastly, Henry Onyekuru had 63 minutes under his belt for Galatasary. The 23-year-old dazzled through Besiktas’ defense on numerous occasions before being replaced by Muhammed Akturkoglu. Galatasary clinched a 3-1 victory over Besiktas at home.
